Exhaust Gas Recirculation Coolers

Stringent emissions regulations and improved fuel economy standards make the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler (EGR-C) a critical component in both diesel and gasoline engine systems. The EGR-C is designed to cool the engine’s exhaust gas with coolant, thereby reducing its volume and increasing its density before returning the cooled exhaust gas back to the engine’s intake air to reduce combustion temperatures that produce NOx (oxides of nitrogen).

In 2000, Modine was one of the first heat transfer manufacturers to market a heavy-duty truck EGR-C followed by a light-duty automotive EGR-C in 2001. With decades of global expertise, Modine can offer an integrated system approach to reduce emissions and optimize engine performance through the application of exhaust gas recirculation coolers.

Typical ERG-C applications include diesel and gasoline engines installed in automobiles, commercial, heavy-duty, and off-highway vehicles.

Features and Benefits

  • Highly efficient, vacuum-brazed, stainless steel tube bundle and tube-and-insert designs provide durability and performance to meet the requirements of the various markets.
  • EGR-Cs can be optimized for performance by varying fin densities and/or geometries, and can be customized for installation with formed or cast housings.

We continue to build on our advantage of exhaust gas recirculation cooler innovations to provide customers with the performance that meets their engine exhaust emission needs.
